A Team Committed to Excellence

Our History

The Beta Group was established in 1997 by founders Murray White, Mark A. Cheek and John Laughlin. We have since participated in over 3,100 projects and have expanded from three employees to over 60 serving Louisiana and Mississippi. Our office locations expanded from our main office in Gretna, Louisiana to a laboratory in Hancock County, Mississippi and a satellite office in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana. Following Hurricane Katrina in August 2005, we adapted our services to meet the needs of post-Katrina clean up and rebuilding.

Our company began as a construction materials testing laboratory (CMT), and our services now include CMT and geotechnical engineering services including exploration, laboratory testing and engineering analysis. We also offer forensic engineering, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), Thermal Imaging services, project management and light construction. We have the ability to be bonded and bond light construction projects. We are nationally accredited (AASHTO) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers validated. Our Hancock County laboratory is MDOT certified.
